After months of watching Gavan get these frequently-increasing, debillitating abdominal pains Saturday everything came to a head. He had been sick on and off all week but Saturday from breakfast on, the pain was getting steadily worse. Finally at 9pm, in we went to the ER at PLC. He was in so much pain on the way over, that I was regretting not calling an ambulance, and was hoping I could get him there in one piece. He had a short wait, and was called into triage where they hooked him up to morphine and IV fluids immediately. After blood tests and an xray which were all fine, the only thing left to do was wait till morning until he could have an ultrasound. Morning turned into 5pm, and the results came back that his Gallbladder was indeed super inflamed and he did have gallstones.
After 25 hrs. in the ER, he was finally admitted, and taken to a room. (25 hrs. that were far from boring... let me tell you the things we saw made those TV medical dramas look like a walk in the park!!!! ) The plan was to do a laparoscopy surgery to remove his gallbladder, and again the waiting was the hardest plan. Surgery happened at 4:30 pm Monday, and I just made it back to the hospital room after a short break away in time for him to come out of recovery. Everything went well, and he is recovering well and can come home in the morning!
So much for our lazy summer and renovation plans! Nurseries and babies can wait... we have other much more pressing fires to put out. And although I'm not sure any of the events of this summer are copecetic with bedrest, I wonder how I could have fit a real job in this summer if I'd tried!
Anyway, the main thing is that everyone is healthy at this point. Hubs will recover, I am ticking along nicely, and baby-to-be is still happily in the wrong position. We will be grateful for that.
